5 Ways To Enjoy Your End Of Summer Labor Day Staycation

Who's up for a staycation? Hanging at home is the perfect way to end out the summer. You already did the beaches, the ball games, the waterparks, and the traffic. It can be exhausting, especially the traffic. So why not dedicate your last long weekend of the summer to a little rest and relaxation right in your very own backyard. As you bid adieu to the dog days of summer, sleep in, stay home and manage your #FOMO with these home based activities.

Eat Up

How many plain old hot dogs and hamburgers can one man eat? Add some spice to your life by switching up the outdoor cooking. Looking for suggestions? Tap into Food Network’s Best Backyard Barbecue Recipes featuring celebrity chefs like Bobby Flay. Get it while it’s hot! They’re sharing mouthwatering menus for ribs, ribs and more ribs with a brisket and some pulled pork on the side. Yum!

Game On

Skip the deadly game of lawn darts and get really good at KanJam instead. Here's how you play.  Grab a partner and take on an opposing duo by throwing discs toward the opposing goal. Your partner can assist or go straight for the win with an unassisted toss. Win the staycation!

Cool Off

Heck, anyone can have a pool! But when you want to be king of the neighborhood, you break out this 75-foot long Wahii WaterSlide. It's made of a tough plastic that can handle up to 265 pounds per square foot. C'mon, be a kid again and don’t let this refreshing moment slip away.

Drink Up

Before making the seasonal switch to Pumpkin Beer enjoy one last round sipping a frosty Blue Moon garnished with a slice of orange. Made with Valencia orange peel and coriander this beer will add some real flavor to your staycation. It pairs perfectly with grilled shrimp and marinated chicken dishes. You can even cook your corn with it!

GRILLED STREET CORN

PREP TIME: 45 MINUTES

SERVES: 4-6

INGREDIENTS

3 bottles (36-oz.) Blue Moon® Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale, ¼ cup reserved

4-6 ears of fresh corn, husks removed

½ cup mayonnaise

1 cup crumbled Cotija or Parmesan cheese

½ tsp. cayenne pepper

1 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

PREPARATION

  • In a large bowl, soak the corn in the Blue Moon Belgian White* beer for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the corn, pat dry, and grill (or place on a baking sheet and broil 3 inches from a flame, turning frequently) until charred.
  • Meanwhile, whisk together the mayonnaise and the reserved ¼ cup of beer.
  • Remove the corn from the heat and place on a platter. While still warm, brush with the mayonnaise mixture.
  • Sprinkle the corn liberally with cheese and cayenne pepper.
  • Garnish with cilantro and other garnishes, if desired, and serve.

Suggested garnishes: lime wedges, hemp seeds, sautéed garlic, or minced onion

* Belgian-Style Wheat Ale

Stretch Out

Before football and sofa season really gets rolling, try napping in the great outdoors. Chillin in a hammock can be a great stress reliever. Climb into the DoubleNest Hammock from ENO. It’s made of lightweight, durable nylon, sets up in a jiffy and is big enough to hold two. Just don't forget the sunscreen!
