We're Celebrating 20 Years Of Making Men Handsomer

It's hard to believe that 20 years ago this March was when we first first debuted GroomingLounge.com, our initial forward-facing foray into the world of men's grooming.  At the time, it was the only multi-brand, all-inclusive men's grooming web site in the country and one of 3-4 that existed in the world.

Sure we had our sights on opening stores and creating our own products back then, but we had little money (that hasn't changed) and for $3K or so, plus inventory, we were able to develop a Yahoo Store that looked pretty sharp.  The products, which were few and included brands like Anthony, Molton Brown, Truefitt & Hill, Bliss and Heavy Duty, existed on the site in tandem with a boatload of grooming advice developed in conjunction with the Barbers we were recruiting and partnering with to open our first shop.

And the best part was that my basement in Bethesda, MD served as the warehouse and fulfillment center for the first 8-10 months of business.  Yep, UPS was pulling up to our little Cape Cod starter home with deliveries daily and our warehouse forewoman (Wendy, my wife), would take the 5-10 orders we received daily to the local post office.  Of course, as we got toward the end of our first year in business and were starting to build out our DC store, Wendy and my mother in law, Merle "The Hammer" Stern, thought a 7-months pregnant Wendy was no longer right for the job and she resigned to concentrate on her health and our soon-to-be-born son, Owen.

Anyhow, this is a long way of saying and outlining where we started and showcasing what an awesome ride it's been as Grooming Lounge has grown and expanded over the years to include physical shops and more than 20+ of our very-own products.  So, in addition to saying thanks for all who have helped to make our longevity possible and to tell everyone reading that "we're not done yet" -- also wanted to share this clever graphic that showcases just how far the men's grooming market has come since those dial-up days of 2000.
